A TEENAGER has been detained by a police after a group of youths reportedly broke into the grounds of Dudley Zoo.
Police were called to the Castle Hill attraction at 7.15pm last night (July 8) to reports of youths breaking in.
Four boys then ran off when police arrived, before an officer then chased one of the boys to the nearby McDonalds car park in Castle Gate.
A police spokesman said: "A 14-year-old boy was detained in a nearby road and will be spoken to in due course."
Bosses at the zoo have confirmed no damage was caused by the break-in.
Matt Lewis, manager of Dudley Zoo, said: "At around 7.30pm a group of youths gained access to our stores area at the bottom of the zoo site.
"Mobile security patrols and staff were still on site at the time and no damage occurred.”
