ROWLEY Regis boxer Jason Welborn is raising money in memory of his friend who was killed in a horror crash with a bus.

Former British middleweight boxing champion Jason was close friends with Bret Dance, who was killed when the van he was driving crashed with a bus in Dudley Road, Rowley Regis earlier this month.

Dudley News:

More than £3.4k has already been raised by a Justgiving appeal at http://bit.ly/34PoiT5 to help Bret's three children aged 12, 4, and 11-months.

Now Jason hopes to add to the total and has raised £380 by auctioning a framed signed glove, his last fight jacket and a signed photo from his British title win on Facebook.

He is also raffling off a signed Ricky Hatton T-shirt, a Mayweather and Ricky Hatton photo, a signed Hatton photo and a fight program - all donated by Ricky Hatton's team who saw Jason's post auctioning off his items and contacted him.

Visit Jason's Facebook page for tickets, at £5 each. The closing date is tomorrow (Thursday November 22).

Former Britannia school pupil Jason posted: "I will donate all money raised to the tragic death of one of my closest friends Bret Dance who passed away 7.11.19.

"This money will either be used to help with funeral costs or to help his three small children he has left behind have a better Xmas as nothing can bring their daddy back.

"This guy will be truly missed by many.

"Please help and show your support. #teamwelborn."

He added: "Just want to thank Hatton Academy for donating a few goodies to go up for auction.a signed t shirt, Mayweather and Ricky Hatton photo also signed, and a fight program all to be thrown in to our good friend Bret Dance family please bid and share many thanks Ricky Hatton what a bloke, they saw my post last night and contacted me directly."
