BUS fares for young people travelling in the Black Country are set to be slashed from January.
Bus operator National Express has announced the price of a daysaver ticket for under-18s will be cut from its current price of £3.10 to £2.30 from January 2 2020.
Weekly travelcards are also being reduced from £18 to £17.50, while cash fares across the network are also set to be froze for the third year in a row.
Chris Gibbens, National Express West Midlands’ Commercial Director, said: “In 2020, nine out of ten journeys on our buses will cost the same - or less - than they were in 2019. Across all of our tickets, the average change to fares in 2020 is zero.
“And don’t forget, the cheapest way to buy bus travel is still our yearly pass, paid for on direct debit. And I’m happy to say that in 2020, you’ll pay exactly the same for that as you did in 2019 too.”
Ticket prices in the Sandwell and Dudley low fare zone will also remain at their current sale price at £3 for a day ticket or £11 for a weekly pass.
