A NEW Burger King drive-thru restaurant is coming to Oldbury.

The fast food giant is set to open a new restaurant on Oldbury Green Retail Park, close to Oldbury town centre.

Site owner BlackRock UK Property Fund Ltd was granted planning permission in January to build a single-storey fast food restaurant with a drive-thru, which will be occupied by Burger King.

The restaurant will be on the car park in front of the existing Homebase store and will take out 32 spaces.

Building work has not yet started.

But notes to planners state that the restaurant will provide two spaces and four extra car parking spaces to the north of Carphone Warehouse.

The retail park, which boasts a Poundland, Next, Shoezone, Pets at Home, Carpetright, Bargain Buys, Food Warehouse, Smyths Toys, Costa, Greggs, Card Factory and The Carphone Warehouse, will still have 504 car parking spaces after the Burger King store opens.

Planning permission was granted in January but an application has just been submitted to Sandwell Council for signage at the site.

Burger King has over 17,000 restaurants world-wide. It is not yet known when the restaurant will open its doors.
