Who are you? We are Paveley and day Veterinary Centre, owned by Dr Neil Paveley and Dr Christina Finch (nee Day)

When did you open and why? The brand new independent practice opened on Monday, March 2, 2020. Neil and Christina are longstanding friends, having met at a job interview many years ago!

Tell us about your business - Christina states: “I wanted to go back to being a vet the way it used to be when I first qualified 23 years ago. A time when people knew and trusted their vets. In those days, with a lot fewer vet practices around, there was continuity of care and fee structures were more transparent and fair.” Neil, who had recently sold his practice in Kidderminster, had a very similar ethos and was keen for new project so the idea of setting up a practice together just grew naturally. The practice is built inside the old post office in Norton. It is a modern purpose built practice with up to date equipment.

How did you decide on the name? The practice was named as the vets surnames to reiterate that its a personal vet practice where you will only ever see Neil or Chris.

Who works there? The vets are supported by a team of four exceptional fully qualified registered veterinary nurses.

Who are your customers? Christina says: “The clients that have already registered seem absolutely lovely. We have had some gorgeous pets in already from a new puppy through to a huge main coon cat. I have already restored the hearing of a terrier with fur matts blocking his ear canals and been asked if I will fertility test a 60kg black Russian Terrier stud dog. . . and that’s just the first four days! I absolutely love my job as there is never a dull moment.”

What’s your proudest moment in business? After months and months of hard work, showing new clients around the immaculate and well equipped, premises and pulling the team together and realising what fabulous and caring staff we have recruited.

What are your ambitions for the future? Hopefully this clean and modern lovely little vet practice will thrive and grow and support the local community.
