A KIND hearted Dudley woman will release virtual Facebook activities for youngsters in a bid to keep them entertained and educated during the coronavirus school closures.

Michelle Osell will broadcast Facebook videos from Monday (March 23) featuring songs, drawings and baking to keep kids preoccupied.

Schools will close from 4pm on Friday for most youngsters, leaving many parents with the task of filling the days for their children.

Michelle, who is one of half of comedy duo Musings of a Black Country Wench, has put her performing on hold as sidekick Karen Westwood is a front line NHS nurse.

She told the News: "We have had to put it on hold so I thought what can I do to help.

"Kids can send in paintings, birthday messages for older loved ones and I will tell stories and show baking and singing for them to join in."

The videos, aimed at children aged three to ten, will begin next week and will be uploaded around 1pm to Michelle's coronavirus Facebook help page, 'Covid-19 Help Questions Advice Self Blog'.

She is also hoping to get her grandchildren, four-year-old Jacob and and Logan, aged one, on board to help with the videos.

Not only is Karen helping keep youngsters brains ticking while schools are closed, she is also helping efforts to get essential supplies to elderly and vulnerable people in the area.

Volunteers can offer their time, people can donate items or people in need of help can ask for supplies on the page and Michelle will direct them to organisations that can help.

She is already working with groups in Kates Hill and Brockmoor to provide help elderly and vulnerable people who are self-isolating.

Michelle said: "We trying to keep community support up and doing all we can to help."
