COUNCIL tenants in Dudley who may be financially struggling due to the coronavirus outbreak can seek help from the local authority.

Dudley Council has urged anyone who may be facing loss of income or other financial strains related to the outbreak to call the council rent income team on 0300 555 0010.

The move comes as the local authority earlier this week suspended legal and enforcement action and cancelled court hearings.

Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member for housing, said: "These unprecedented times call for swift action and support for any of our tenants who may have been left affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

"We continue to work together as a community to do all we can to protect and safeguard our residents and a text message will be sent to tenants who might be affected next week to remind them that our help and support is available.

"We are also looking at ways to get help for people who are struggling with private rental and I would ask those residents to keep up to date with the latest announcements from national government at this time."
