AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a Dudley man who was found hanged from a canal bridge.

Matthew Boulton was discovered by a member of the public at the Parkhead viaduct on the Dudley canal on Wednesday May 20.

An inquest opened into the death of the 30-year-old, of Woodside Road, Dudley, this morning (Monday June 1) at the Black Country Coroners' Court in Oldbury.

Area coroner for the Black Country Joanne Lees said Mr Boulton was a single man who was a roadworker and was born in Wordsley.

She said Mr Boulton's death had been reported by police and that a post mortem had recorded a cause of death as asphyxiation caused by hanging.

She opened the inquest and adjourned it for a full inquest to be heard on June 29.
