TEN firefighters were called to a grass fire close to a Dudley reservoir.
Three fire crews battled the flames after a grass fire was reported close to Shavers End reservoir on Limepit Road at around 7pm on Monday evening (June 1).
A passing ambulance also stopped after coming across the fire, just after 7pm.
No patients were found, while fire crews from Dudley and Brierley Hill extinguished the blaze which measured 75 metres by metres in area.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service said: "It was a 75 x 75 metre area of cut grass above a reservoir. We used a hose reel to dampen the area.
"Ten firefighters attended, two crews from Dudley and one from Brierley Hill.
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "One of our ambulance crews came across a fire on Limepit Lane in Dudley at 7:08pm last night. After liaising with the fire service, no patients were found and the crew cleared from the scene.”
Nearby residents reported smelling thick smoke in the London Heights and Milking Bank areas.
