A DUDLEY man accused of killing his five month old daughter nearly three years ago is set to stand trial in January.

The baby was taken to hospital after suffering cardiac arrest on September 8 2017 and died the following day.

Philip Peace of Himley Road is charged with murdering the child and he is expected to enter a plea to the charge at a hearing on October 9.

The 42-year-old could stand trial on January 15 before a High Court Judge in Birmingham, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Judge Michael Chambers QC said the trial would take from four to five weeks and he rejected a defence application for the address of Peace to be withheld from publication.

The judge, who remanded Peace on unconditional bail, was told an application would be held in October for the charge to be dismissed.

Peace was arrested in May this year following a further investigation by police into the death of the child.
