A COTTAGE in Sedgley worth half a million pounds is up for grabs for the price of a £2 raffle ticket.

The life-changing prize also includes a hot tub, a Range Rover and furnishings and is thanks to the Win Your Dream competition run by Mike Chatha.

Homeowners Lydia and Paul Browning hope to sell as many tickets as possible to raise £160,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity UK, along with giving the lucky winner a dream house.

The couple decided to take the unusual step as they looking to move with their children Lola, aged 12, and eight-year-old James, after ten years in the house and they wanted to move on with no chain.

Lydia explained: "We can move without a chain and give someone an amazing opportunity and the chance to help a wonderful charity."

The family were inspired to choose the charity as it helped members of their family and children among the four nurseries they own across the Black Country.

Mike Chatha said: "53 Catholic Lane is a beautiful house owned by a lovely family. It’s a privilege to be able to make someone’s dream come true by offering the house as a prize, fully furnished, along with a Range Rover and Hot Tub, for just £2. And at the same time raising money for such a worthy charity.”

The house is based on Catholic Lane and is thought to one of the oldest surviving properties in Sedgley, with parts of the building dating back to the 1500s.

The view from the patio takes in Cotwall End Nature Reserve and as far as the Malvern Hills.

Inside, the house includes a living and dining room with a log burner, a utility room, downstairs cloakroom, ground-level cellars and a large kitchen opening on to a sun terrace.

The first floor includes four bedrooms, an en-suite and a family bathroom.

Tickets went on sale last Friday at 4pm and are already selling fast and took £37,000 in its first day.

Entries can be made at winyourdream.com and the competition will close on July 20, or earlier if all tickets are sold.

The draw will be made on July 24.

Lydia added: "It's going to be brilliant, it's something that's different and one of the first of its kind in the Black Country."

The latest raffle comes months after a Bilston woman scooped her dream house in Shropshire after entering a Win Your Dream competition.
