AN AWARD-winning Bewdley hair salon has created three new jobs as its owners look to meet a high demand for the salon’s services.

Abacus Hair has taken on two experienced hair stylists, alongside a new apprentice who will undertake a two-year training programme in the High Street-based salon.

Joining the family-owned salon are Zoe Tilley and Helena Williams – a double appointment which sees both stylists returning to the Bewdley business after career breaks to start families. Zoe, 39, and 40 year-old Helena, can together count almost 35 years of experience in the industry.

The third appointment sees Chloe Beard joining as the salon’s second apprentice. Kidderminster-born Chloe, who attended Bewdley High School, will work through a two-year apprenticeship programme with the 16 year-old undertaking all of her training in the salon, working closely with the Abacus senior team, led by directors Nick and Allison Ford.

With the salon set to mark its 25th anniversary next year, Nick and Allison say they are determined grow and develop the business further with the three appointments taking the team to 10.

Nick said: “It’s brilliant for us to not only bring three new jobs to Bewdley, but to welcome back two first-rate stylists and an apprentice who has the passion needed to succeed in the industry.

“We said at the start of this year how we were looking to advance the salon for our customers and Zoe, Helena and Chloe are a big part of that. Zoe and Helena are already making an impact and Chloe has settled in superbly. It’s an exciting time for us as we enter the second half of the year.”

The start of a busy summer period for the salon kicked-off last month with Allison being hand-picked by British Hair’s celebrity ambassador Brendan O’Sullivan to be part of a team styling over 50 models at London Fashion Week.

Allison worked for two days in the capital styling models who were showcasing the new ‘What We Wear’ brand – owned and designed by British rapper, Tinie Tempah.

Abacus Hair is the only salon in England to have won the L’Oreal Colour Trophy on two occasions. The Bewdley salon was also crowned the number one for ‘best hair’ by the National Hairdressers Federation in 2017.
