FORMER Cradley Heath Building Society boss Tom Mole, well-known to many home-owners in the town, has died aged 94.

He spent most of his working life at the building society, first as secretary under George Hackett, whom he succeeded as managing director, retiring in 1981.

His first job was as a solicitor’s clerk at George Green’s in Cradley Heath, a company which worked closely with the building society.

Mr Mole, who was married to Daisy Wakeley for 59 years, was organist at Enville Street Methodist Church and lived in Norton for many years.

He was a resident at Amblecote House care home for the last four years and leaves three children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Daughter Carole Wellings said the family would be “delighted” if his two former building society colleagues Martin Green and Trevor - she does not know his surname – could attend his funeral.

It is to be held at Stourbridge Crematorium on Thursday September 2 at 1.30pm.
