BEWDLEY Festival will welcome a former Labour Home Secretary and admired parliamentary performer for an evening of stories and entertainment.

MP and award-winning author and broadcaster Alan Johnson will share his wit and wisdom with the audience on Monday October 15 at the Mercure Bewdley Heath Hotel.

The politician has regularly appeared on such BBC panel shows as Question Time and This Week, and has shown his comedic side as a guest presenter on Have I Got News For You.

He was also the centre of the documentary 'Alan Johnson: The Post Office and Me,' and is a known lover of music, indulging in his passion in ITV's 'The Nation’s Favourite Beatles Number 1.'

Alan’s work in government includes positions as Home Secretary, Education Secretary and Health Secretary, and as MP for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle he will happily tackle matters of electoral reform, trade unionists, fairness at work, and Jeremy Corbyn.

Alan became the youngest General Secretary in the history of the Union of Communication Workers when he was elected to the post in January 1992, and went on to be elected as a Labour MP in 1997.

Tickets for the event cost £20 and are available from www.bewdleyfestival.org.uk
