WEBBS of Wychbold has teamed up with a Hereford cider maker to release a new cider, celebrating the Midlands' rich apple heritage.

Food at Webbs food hall has collaborated with Tom Oliver, of Oliver's Cider and Perry, to develop Eureka!, a crafted blend of traditional Herefordshire cider apples and classic juicy eaters.

Its unique flavour is achieved by fermenting bittersweet cider apples using wild yeasts that naturally occur at Tom's cider house in Ocle Pychard.

Next a cultured yeast kick-starts the fermentation of sweet dessert apples, including the Worcester Pearmain. Both batches are then blended to create Eureka!

Ed Webb, owner of Webbs of Wychbold, said: "We love championing the best food and drink and are committed to building relationships with artisan producers like Tom Oliver, one of the country’s leading cider-makers.

"Cider is such an iconic English drink and Eureka! will appeal to both cider-lovers and people who are new to the drink. It’s great served slightly chilled or over ice.”

Eureka!'s sweet, sharp and tannic notes make it an ideal accompaniment to a range of foods including pork dishes, goat's cheese and classic fruit desserts.

Cider-maker Tom added: "Eureka! is made with freshly pressed English fruit, the majority hand-picked, and is produced with minimal intervention.

"My philosophy is to take what the fruit gives, paying respect to our great cider-making heritage, and letting the apple flavours shine through.

"Eureka! is a great expression of this natural approach to cider-making.”

A 330ml bottle of the 6.7 per cent alcohol cider is priced at £3.59, or £6.99 for the 750ml bottle - both on sale at Webbs food hall.
