A STOURPORT pub is a raising a glass in celebration after being included in a real ale bible for the first time.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) launched the 2019 ‘Good Beer Guide’ at Worleys at The Swan in Stourport’s High Street.
And it was double celebration for management Maria Plant and Matt Worley as The Swan was included in the guide – which gives drinkers a go-to reference where to find great ales nationwide – for the first time.
The Swan was previously a hotel until it closed in 2007. It reopened in December 2015 as a pub and live music venue.
Nick Yarwood, Wyre Forest CAMRA branch chairman, said: “Pub manager Maria does a great job looking after the cellar and the beers, she's passionate about constantly high beer quality, and that’s recognised by entry into the Guide for the first time since they opened in 2015.
“What with the Swan, and their nearby sister pub the Hope & Anchor, adding to other good pubs in the town Stourport is being established as a destination for good beers.”
*On Monday, September 24 from 6pm The Swan is to host a ‘Meet the Brewer’ session with Frothblowers Brewery of Birmingham, brewers of the humorously named Piffle Snonker pale ale. A discount of 20p per pint is offered to CAMRA members on real ales.
