A BEWDLEY chef is at the top of her game after winning a nationwide award for UK’s best family recipe.

Amateur chef Lyn Foxall was awarded by pub brand Chef & Brewer for her luxurious rum bread and butter pudding served with a bourbon butterscotch sauce and custard.

Lyn entered the dish into a nationwide competition earlier this year, competing with hundreds of other hopefully foodies.

As well as receiving a £500 cash prize, her dessert has been added to Chef & Brewer pub menus all over the country, including the Running Horse Inn on Longbank.

Lyn said: “My Mom is a fabulous cook and inspired me to get into the kitchen from a young age, so when I saw the competition to find the UK’s best family recipe the opportunity was just too good to miss.

“My rum bread and butter pudding was one of the first dishes I learnt to make when I was 15, and I still enjoy making it just as much today – it’s a firm family favourite!

“I’m absolutely thrilled that the dish has been added to the Chef & Brewer menu. I hope that other guests enjoy it just as much as I do!”

Manuela Tanase, general manager at the Running Horse Inn, said: “Meal times are all about sharing family moments, so we thought it would be a great idea to turn to our guests for their favourite family recipes.

“Lyn’s bread and butter pudding is absolutely delicious – we’re sure it’s going to be a crowd pleaser for our guests, particularly those with a sweet tooth!

“We’re pleased that the UK’s best family recipe was found in Bewdley, and we’re thrilled to have been able to welcome Lyn and her family for an exclusive ‘first taste’ of the dish when it arrived in pub last week.”

Lyn’s Rum Bread and Butter Pudding is currently available at the Running Horse Inn and over 140 pubs nationwide now.
