FIRE fighters from Ludlow were out and about to tap into the Christmas spirit in the town.
A crew from Ludlow fire station brought an engine into the town centre on the day of the Medieval Fayre and the switching on of the Christmas lights.
They were able to collect money and provide a treat to young children who were able to inspect the engine.
But there was a serious message that fire fighters put their lives on the line to attend fires and major accidents at any time of the day or night and 365 days a year.
Fire fighters in rural areas also get involved in a wide range of other activities including rescuing cattle and other animals from water.
Many rural fire fighters work on a part time basis but are ready to respond when the call comes.
