DE Koffie Pot at The Left Bank in Hereford were thrilled to be named the Best Cafe/Tearoom.

Karen Waring, who runs the cafe, was joined by staff members to pick up the award from Brian Wilcox, chairman of Herefordshire Council.

The runners-up were Cafe@All Saints in Hereford and Trumpet Corner Tearoom and Art Gallery near Ledbury.

Karen said: “I think it has exceeded our wildest dreams.

“We have been running De Koffie Pot for three years.

“We want to appeal to everybody so no-one is left out. I think we see all groups of people.

“We have got something for everyone and bring people together. They all feel comfortable and we create a really nice atmosphere.”

This category celebrates the best independent café or tea room that stands apart from others with particular emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients.

De Koffie Pot has become a special destination cafe in the centre of Hereford city.

Art students use it as their Students Union, dog walkers use it as a pit stop and tourists drop off between two great city sights, namely the cathedral and the Old Bridge.

They use produce from Ogleby Butchers, Peter Cooks Bread, Neil Powell butchers, Country Flavours, James Gourmet Coffee, Trumpers Tea, Kelsmor Dairy and Lane Cottage Produce.

There is a breezy laid back feel which makes it the perfect spot to spend a Sunday morning with the paper and a full English or a lazy afternoon enjoying coffee or a pint with friends soaking up some sunshine and shooting the breeze.

De Koffie Pot overlooks the riverside courtyard at The Left Bank Village.

It is a cafe by day serving extra special food with lots of emphasis on local, organic, vegan, and gluten-free dishes.

The Hereford College of Arts has designed much of their branding as part of a competition for the students, including their logo and their menu clipboard.

The decor is Dutch-inspired and the people of Herefordshire and beyond find it a particularly restful place to relax.

They have various classes and clubs on such as life drawing and salsa, free discussion nights and free live music.

By day De Koffie Pot is a cafe where you can happily work, learn, munch or socialise.
