A CHARITY is looking for someone to support a gifted athlete.

Casarena Ferreira was the athlete who inspired members to start the charity CASS and Friends in 2015.

CASS and Friends was set up in early 2015 to offer financial support to young and aspiring athletes (between the age 12 -18) in the Cotswolds.

Training, attending events, buying equipment and obtaining specialist advice can be very expensive, and there is little support available to help with the costs. CASS and Friends has been set up to offer this support. Funded totally from public donations, it seeks to provide assistance to ease the financial burden on families with gifted youngsters. This grass-roots lead organisation achieved charity status in September 2017.

Casarena, from Childswickam finished 3rd this year in the triathlon elite super series. She turns 18 at the end of December so after that the charity can no longer support her.

CASS and Friends would like to wish her all the very best for her future triathlon career and believe she is going to make a huge success of whatever she sets her mind to achieve.

Cas will complete her A ‘Levels this summer and then go onto university to do a degree in sports management. She has her sights set on continuing to compete at the elite level for triathlon and is well on the pathway to qualify for the Olympics in 2024.

In the short term she will be going to another selection weekend next month and if she is successful she will be part of the England Talent Squad – a huge accolade.
