IT’S the most wonderful time of the year... and one of the things that makes Christmas truly magical is dressing the Christmas tree.

Our readers have been busy decking their halls and adding tinsel, baubles and ornaments to their beautiful trees in all shapes, sizes and colours.

We asked people to send in photos of their Christmas trees and here is a selection of some of the sparkliest Christmas trees in Worcestershire.

The fir tree has traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals for thousands of years. Trees that remained green all year have always had a special meaning for people in the winter.

Pagans used branches of it to decorate their homes during the winter solstice, as it made them think of the spring to come. The Romans used fir trees to decorate their temples during a festival called Saturnalia. Today, Christians use the tree to symbolize the everlasting life of God.
