FAMILY firm Broad Street DIY have been celebrating its 40th anniversary this month.

The shop first opened in Sidemoor in 1979 before moving to its current location on Worcester Road in 2001.

Initially started by Tony and Linda Warren, the business has since grown to such an extent that three generations of the Warren family now work there.

While Tony Warren remains the boss, his son Paul was appointed managing director in 2002.

Brother Brian, Paul's wife Hayley and sister Lisa also work at the store along with Paul's son Liam.

Moving to Worcester Road meant larger premises and a wider range of products, while an outside yard offered scope for expansion into landscaping and building materials.

A first floor kitchen and bathroom showroom opened in 2009.

Broad Street DIY has always remained at the heart of the local community and has raised £1,000's for charities over the years, while taking part in community based projects.

They were voted DIY Retailer of the Year in 2017.

Celebrations have been taking place to mark the occasion and the first 40 customers through the door on January 12 were given a free goody bag, while other special offers took place throughout the store.

Paul Warren said: " We've experienced some very challenging trading conditions over the years and we've survived no less than three recessions!
