Children from nursery to Year 5 enjoyed a fun and thought-provoking time at Eckington CE First School during their first ever Wellbeing Week.

The week was linked to the national Children’s Mental Health Week which was set up by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health.

Each day focused on a different aspect based on the theme: Healthy: Inside and Out.

'Long way to go on mental health,' says William

During the week, all year groups enjoyed exciting, but muddy forest school sessions.

The children also took part in sports tournaments to win points for their houses. The children considered ‘what makes a healthy snack?’ and made their own cereal bars.

In addition, there was a focus day on being a good friend and anti-bullying.

E-safety Day culminated in each class sharing with parents and the rest of the school what they had learnt, there were posters, role play performances and one class had made their own film.

The week finished with a day of mindfulness, reflection and yoga.
