REDDITCH residents are being urged to get their thinking caps on as the council is set to launch a new fleet of community buses.

As part of service improvements the council has replaced three buses of its five-strong Dial A Ride (DAR) fleet and wants residents to name them.

Cllr Gareth Prosser, whose portfolio covers community services, said: “We have undertaken a lot of work to make sure this service meets our residents’ needs.”

As well as new buses, improvements include designated dates and times for shopping trips so more people can travel together.

Cllr Prosser added: “For 30 years DAR has proved a vital service for residents who have mobility issues and who, without this service would lose their independence and would potentially become socially isolated.

“It is a community service and I'm delighted that our whole community can get involved in naming the new vehicles.”

If you want to take part in the competition, e-mail suggestions to DARcompetition@redditchandbromsgrove.gov.uk or post them to DAR, Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square B988AH by May 10.

Please note, Bussy McBusface will not be included in the shortlist.
