KIDDERMINSTER has welcomed a new Mayor for the coming year at an annual Town Hall ceremony this week.

Councillor David Ross was invested with his chain and robes at the Mayor-making event as part of the annual meeting of Kidderminster Town Council on Wednesday (May 8), which saw over 200 guests, including local dignitaries, attend.

The position of deputy mayor will be held by Councillor Sarah Rook.

Councillor Ross, who recently retired from Shipleys and is a Councillor for Aggborough and Spennells said: “It is a real privilege to become Kidderminster Town Mayor. I am incredibly proud to be representing the town and the wonderful people who live here. "I will be doing everything I can to showcase the facilities, local businesses and charities we have here in Kidderminster.”

Councillor Ross’ mayoral charities for this year will be the Boys Brigade, Blue Cross, and Crackerjacks Trust.

The evening also included a performance by Winterfold House School.

Jerry Price, head of music at the school, said: “The children sang and played with real confidence, producing a wonderful sound for a very appreciative audience”.
