THE ENIGMATIC Bob Dylan didn’t go in person to Stockholm to collect his Nobel Prize for Literature, and so it is unlikely he will be performing live at The Artrix in Bromsgrove.

He's not, of course;, but a leading tribute performer will be; and the musical celebration of the voice of his generation is likely to be quite a journey down Memory Lane.

On offer will be a 50th Anniversary greatest hits show called, appropriately enough, The Bob Dylan Story.

A spokesman said: “This will be a stunning and definitive live concert celebration of rock music’s greatest icon.

“Bromsgrove audiences are invited to join Bob and The Band on a nostalgic trip through and beyond 1960s America as hits including Like A Rolling Stone, Mr Tambourine Man, Blowin’ In The Wind, Knocking On Heaven’s Door, All Along The Watchtower, The Times They Are A-Changin’, Lay Lady Lay and many more are captured to perfection.

“This show celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Dylan’s famous 1969 comeback appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival and relives his performance on that heady late summer evening... the joyous romance of I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight, the whimsy of Quinn The Eskimo, and the trademark venom of Maggie’s Farm.”

It is hard to overstate the cultural impact of Bob Dylan, who once said he thought of himself as "a song and dance man", although to his many fans he is so much more, with a finger on the pulse of his age and empathy, expressed through his lyrics, for the human condition.

The spokesman added: “The UK’s most authentic Bob Dylan tribute act is performed by Bill Lennon, whose other credits include James Taylor in You’ve Got A Friend and Keith Richards in The Counterfeit Stones, supported by a top backing band.

“The Bob Dylan Story is an aural and visual feast written by and starring genuine Dylan fans, complete with evocative visual projections and the fascinating stories behind the songs.”

The date is Friday June 7 and tickets are available on: 01527 577 330.
