Worcester Male Voice Choir will be hosting this year’s English Association Annual concert at Worcester Cathedral on Saturday, June 15, at 7pm.

The man chosen to conduct the combined choirs, who hail from Birmingham the Black country, Shropshire and Avon, is Nicolas Wright, who was previously MD of the Worcester choir.

A spokesman said: “Nicolas has prepared a varied programme of music and song.

“Pieces to savour include the rugby anthem, World in Union, cinema ballad, The Rose, biblical epic, Easter Hymn, and the theme from The Vicar of Dibley.

“Nicolas has assembled a cast of talented musicians to accompany the choir and perform themselves. It includes Curzon Brass, from the Birmingham Conservatoire; Alison Roddy an operatic soprano of international repute, and Jenny Argent, a virtuoso flautist. The Worcester choir will take centre stage to perform an arrangement of Nimrod, by our own Edward Elgar.”

Proceeds of the event will go to St Richard’s Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice. For tickets, call 01905 821659.
