A WITNESS is sought who may have seen suspects fleeing the scene of a burglary in Redditch.

West Mercia Police say a man wearing a high-vis jacket was seen to challenge two suspects as they fled after breaking into a property in Barnwood Close, close to Rickyard Lane, in the early hours of Wednesday (June 12).

A number of items were taken in the burglary which happened some time between 3am and 3.10am.

On arriving at the scene police gave chase and pursued the men on foot in the direction of Exhall Close but the offenders got away.

Officers did, however, manage to recover some of the stolen property which has since been returned to its owner.

The first man, described as of slim build and average height, wore a grey hoodie, tracksuit bottoms and gloves.

The second man, who was of slim build and average height, wore a black hoody, jeans and gloves.

As the pair made their escape, a man described as white and wearing a yellow high-vis jacket and dark trousers was seen to challenge the offenders at around 3.10am on Barnwood Close, heading towards Exhall Close.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident and for the man in the high-vis jacket to come forward.

PC Danny Fulford, from West Mercia Police, said: "While no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing and we would urge the man wearing the high-vis jacket who challenged the suspects to please get in touch with us.

"I would also appeal to any other witnesses, anyone with any information about this incident or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at around the time of the incident, to also get in contact."

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 35s of June 12 2019.
