A COUNCILLOR is heading a campaign to kick a housing developer out of a town in the county.

Wychavon District Council cllr Charles Tucker has launched an online petition in addition to collecting signatures with the help of cllr Dan Boatright door-to-door in Pershore.

Cllr Tucker said: “It’s about time the housing developer Persimmon left.

“They've made such a mess with the Station Road and Wyre Road junction.

“With the next development up the road I don’t want more issues to occur for the community here.

“They’ve had their chance and it’s time they handed over the new estate to a new developer.”

Cllr Tucker, who is also a town councillor for Pershore, has launched a Change.org petition.

Some of the signers have attached comments.

Mary Kenchington said: “I’m signing the petition to terminate Persimmon’s development of the current site because of the unbelievable level of disruption to traffic on people it has caused."

Wendy Shrimpton added: "I am signing the petition because of the chaos that has occurred building the current phase of houses on Station Road.

"Pershore does not have the infrastructure to cope with any more houses."

A spokesman for Persimmon Homes South Midlands said: “This has been a complex issue and we have been in collaboration with Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire county highways every step throughout the process.

“We have endeavoured to complete the works with the least possible disruption."
