Two men have now been identified as potential witnesses in connection with an ongoing murder investigation, following a

CCTV appeal

by police.

Desmond Wooding, who was 80 and lived alone, was found dead at his home in Vines Lane, Droitwich at 8.20am on Monday, June 24.

A police search team is combing the undergrowth by hand leading up to the railway and and search dogs are at the location, working with handlers.

The team are wearing white masks so as to protect any vital forensic evidence from contamination.

However, a spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said enquiries are still ongoing and are still calling for members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area.

The spokesman would not discuss the number of police officers involved in the search or the end date for 'operational reasons'.

Superintendent Damian Pettit, who leads the Droitwich area policing team said: “We recognise that this is a shocking incident for the local community, but incidents such as these are thankfully rare. “Our thoughts remain with Desmond’s family and friends at this time.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
