CROWDS flocked to Hanbury Show, one of the county's showpiece agricultural events at the weekend.

The 72nd annual Hanbury Show was held on Saturday and featured more than 700 exhibitors, 200 trade stands and more than 200 competitions, activities and displays.

Among the popular attractions were alpacas, local artisans, a steam engine display, classic cars, horse classes and pony rides for children.

One of the eye catching attractions were Adrian Graham’s Aldabra giant tortoises.

Mr Graham, who travelled from Lincolnshire with the tortoises especially for the show said: "They have got their own heated barn and several acres to graze on.

“I have a sanctuary for the smaller guys, and I take them in when other people can’t look after them anymore.”

The tortoises shown to the crowds were in their 30s but on average they live 150 years with some even surviving past 200.

Writing on the show's Facebook page after the event, Hanbury Show's organisers said: "So that’s Hanbury Show all wrapped up for another year.

"We’d like to say a great big thank you to everyone who gets involved in any way to make the show what it is - sponsors, volunteers, judges, exhibitors, visitors and competitors alike, we hope you all had a lovely day out with us."

Last year's event attracted more than 12,000 visitors, and organisers were expecting a similar number this year.
