MOTORISTS are gearing up for the return of a longstanding motoring festival, which comes to Droitwich again this weekend.

The Chateau Impney Hill Climb, which has been running since the 1950s, puts drivers and their cars to the test climbing the 1,000 yard course outside the estate, near Droitwich.

There are numerous awards handed out to the most impressive displays at the event, including the Cox Cup, awarded to the fastest time of the day, the Miller Cup, awarded for the fastest time in a sports car, and the Ladies Award, given to the best female driver.

This year’s event, running on July 13 and 14, features more than just the cars, with a flyover from iconic British WW2 aircraft ,the Lancaster Bomber on both the Saturday and the Sunday.

In addition to the flypast, there will be a funfair, demonstrations, trade stands and family entertainment for visitors to enjoy.

At last year’s event, motorsport enthusiasts were able to explore the open paddock, where they could get up close and personal with some of the impressive cars facing the Chateau Impney challenge.

Gates open at 7.30am each day, with the action from the hill climb starting at 8.45am on Saturday and 8.30am on Sunday. Gates close at 6.00pm.

On the Hill Climb website, a spokesman said: "Since 2015, the event has gone from strength to strength, with over 16,000 visitors on site for the 2018 event.

"2019 is set to prove itself once again to be a firm favourite, with a host of new content to keep spectators guessing."
