AN event showcasing habitats and sustainability is coming to Worcester this week.

On July 17 at the Riverside Building, University of Worcester, visitors can see the Life Map, which details the different habitats in the area in and around Worcester, as well as the way the land is used and how these affect the environment.

From 2.30pm onwards there will be an introduction to the Life Map, followed by talks about habitats and land use in Worcestershire, the role of landowners and testing environmental schemes.

At 3.30 there will be a talk on the role of the Local Nature Partnership, to be followed by habitats and species as a foundation for sustainable life.

After the talks there will be a time for questions and discussion.

The Life Map, created by the charity Redlist Revival, is designed to educate and inform and help individuals and groups to make a commitment to furthering sustainability.

It gives information sequentially at national, county and community levels.

The Life Map shows information in a standard format that enables individuals, families and communities to become aware of the resources for which they are responsible, to work to get the most out of those resources and to measure the change of any enhancement.

Entry to the event is free, and can be obtained at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-life-map-for-worcestershire-tickets-63109347758

Edward Darling, chief executive of the Life Map, said: "This event will show members of the public how we manage the earth's resources.

"We have invited councillors and representatives from environmental groups who make these decisions to show how we impact on our environment."
