BIG-HEARTED runners put their best foot forward to raise £4,741 for Bromsgrove charity The Basement Project at this summer’s Bumble Bimble event.

The annual summer run was a sell-out with 240 competitors completing a five-mile or 10-mile course to aid the charity, which helps vulnerable young people under 25.

With events in both summer and winter, the Bumble Bimble runners have raised a grand total of £14,500 for charity since the initiative was launched.

The summer event starts and ends at The Park Gate Inn on Kidderminster Road, taking in the scenery of Nutnells Woods.

Event organiser Alex Dentith said: “This was our fifth Bumble Bimble run and the enthusiasm of competitors and support from volunteers and the local community never fails to amaze me.

"It’s a beautiful course and our runners have a great time – and the fact that we are also raising money for such a worthwhile cause makes it an extra special day!”

Preparations are already beginning for this year's winter event – which consists of a five or 10-mile run plus a two-mile 'Santa Dash', completed in festive attire - see https://www.bumblebimble.run for more.

Managers at The Basement Project were delighted with the donation from the race - sponsored by Champion Security Installations and Bumble Hole Foods - which will help support their valuable projects.

Founded in 2000, The Basement Project supports local young people under 25 with any issues they are facing and helps them to live independently.

As well as running a drop-in centre and workshops they also have a food bank on site, which is always grateful for donations - visit http://bromsgrovebasementproject.org.uk to find out more.

Kelly Turner, community fundraiser for the charity, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Bumble Bimble fund-raisers.

"This is an amazing donation and will go a long way to help our vulnerable clients."
