A POPULAR annual charity match between supermarket staff will be taking place later this month.

Rival teams from Evesham Morrisons and Tesco go head-to-head in the Annual Retail Challenge Cup – which this year will be the 22nd event held.

This year's match is being held at Evesham United Football Club’s Jubilee Stadium on Sunday, August 4.

The trophy is being presented by Wolverhampton Wanderer's legend Robbie Dennison.

Meanwhile the man of the match trophy is this year being dedicated to Shirley Warner, a popular Tesco employee who sadly died.

Organiser Mark Payne, who works at Tesco originally founded the event in 1997 in memory of his mum, Gill, who was cared for by St Richard’s Hospice.

Over the years they have gone on to raise £20,000 for the hospice, that support patients living with life-limiting illnesses, their families and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Entry for adults costs £2 for adults, £1 for under 16s. At the event extra money is raised through a raffle and a tombola, with that money raised matched by Barclays bank.

The match kicks off at 6pm.
