BIRLINGHAM Village Hall plays host venue to nine local artists who will display and sell original work, prints and greetings card over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Kelvin Hartshorne, one of the organisers at Birlingham Village Hall, said: “This is the second time that a group of artists has used Birlingham Village Hall as a venue under the Worcestershire Open Studios banner and the result it magnificent.

“We have eight painters, each of whom has a different style and they all work in different materials and subject matter, add to this a local photographer and we have the makings of a terrific three day event.”

Worcestershire Open Studios is a countywide initiative and the 2019 field offers over 80 artists, the majority working in their own studios at home, but for those who can’t do this a venue such as Birlingham Village Hall is perfect for the occasion.

The ‘Birlingham nonet’ include: Rob Broadhurst, Karen Brighton,  Nick Dawes, Angela Fitch, Rosemary Frith,  Paulette Moore, Jenny Pratt, Kirsten Protherough and Hayley Reynolds, some of whom will be demonstrating techniques used to help budding artists with their own efforts.

Mr Hartshorne added: “Last time we had well over 600 visitors through the doors and that’s a lot of cake!

“This year I think that it’s going to be even more popular as people locally and from further afield plan their art tour to take in as many of the participating artists as possible.”

Birlingham Village Hall, which is situated at the heart of the village, near Pershore WR10 3AB, will be open from 10.30am - 4.30pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and the kettle is always on for visitors to chat to the artists over a refreshing cuppa and homemade cake.
