A GANG of hooded louts terrorised park-goers in Bromsgrove, beating up one man to steal his mobile phone and threatening several others in a shocking spree on Wednesday night (August 21).

Police confirmed they had received reports of a group of men trying to steal people's phones before the assault on the man which happened just after 7pm.

A woman who saw a group intimidating people in the park told the Advertiser that the gang numbered between 15-20 and all had their faces covered.

A West Mercia police spokesperson said: "We received a report at 7.10pm from someone saying he had been attacked and had his phone taken as he was walking out of Sanders Park.

"The victim was a man in his 20s and he had been walking through the park past the basketball courts and tennis courts.

"He was approached by a group of males in dark clothing with their faces covered and was assaulted.

"We received an initial report a few minutes earlier of a group of males trying to take people's phones, trying to get in their pockets and being abusive."

The man was treated for his injuries, which were described as 'not serious', and he was discharged at the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service staff without requiring hospital treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident - anyone with information should call 101 quoting log number 693S of 21/08/19.
