A SHED festival which aims to reduce isolation and provide social connections amongst men is coming to the city.

ShedFest brings people together who share an interest in creating community workshops to improve men’s wellbeing in later life.

They host activities connected to garden sheds – including woodwork, DIY and general making. 'Shedders' make anything from bird boxes and bowls to pottery and model trains.

As part of ShedFest 2019 one of the best known woodworking teachers in the world, Paul Sellers, will open the conference as keynote speaker.

There will be a number of workshops to support Shedders learning.

There will also be exhibition stands providing tools, craft and wellbeing charities.

Chief officer, Charlie Bethel said: “We have a record number of people registered for ShedFest which reflects the growth in the Shed movement and the altruistic desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

“Sheds are amazing environments where men (and women) come together and support each other. People make new friendships and new communities are formed. One local Shed at Holt Heath is simply known as ‘The Shed’ and they are looking for new members; both men and women, should anyone be interested in giving it a go.”

The event will be hosted on Tuesday, September 3, where over 300 Shedders will take part. The doors open at 9am at University of Worcester Arena, in Hylton Road.
