A 51-YEAR-OLD man from Kidderminster was more than double the legal alcohol limit when he was caught driving in the street where he lives.

Russell Hemming, of Usmere Road, Kidderminster, was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - more than double the legal limit of 35 - when he was caught driving a gold Citroen Picasso near his house on August 8.

He appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (August 27), where he pleaded guilty to exceeding the legal drink drive limit.

Magistrates fined him £364 and ordered him to pay a £34 victim surcharge as well as £135 in court costs.

He was also disqualified from driving for 20 months.

In another case at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, a Kidderminster man was fined for drunk and disorderly behaviour in a public place.

Carl Carter, of Avill Grove, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour while drunk in Bewdley Road on August 11.

The 52-year-old was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 plus £135 in court costs.

In a separate case, a Kidderminster woman was handed a driving ban for being nearly twice the legal alcohol limit.

Vicky Condlyffe, aged 45, of Baxter Avenue, pleaded guilty to exceeding the legal drink drive limit on August 11 this year.

She drove a Ford Focus in Hurcott Road after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath - namely 66 microgrammes of alcohol - exceeded the legal limit.

Magistrates fined her £120 and ordered her to pay £32 to fund victim services and £90 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Condlyffe was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.
