It is now 30 years since the original twinning charter between Evesham (UK) Twinning Association and Evesham New Jersey Twinning Association was signed. So to mark this occasion, earlier in the month members and friends of Evesham Twinning Association were delighted to welcome 29 visitors from our twin town in Evesham New Jersey for a two week stay. A number of the visitors had been to Evesham on past twinning trips, but there was a significant number who had never been here before so it was an opportunity to show them around the area and further afield. It was a busy two weeks and one of the highlights for our American friends was the opportunity to spend the day on Crown Meadow enjoying all the events that took place to re-enact the Battle of Evesham. Later that day the Robbie and Diana invited everyone to a barbecue at Raphael’s Restaurant at Hampton Ferry with entertainment from the Avonbank Brass Band. Diana Raphael was one of the signatories to the original twinning charter; the Avonbank Brass Band paid a visit to New Jersey a number of years ago and performed in Evesham Township. Other highlights of the visit included a 4 day trip to Scotland where we stayed in Troon and visited Loch Lomond, the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. There were day visits to Bath and Blenheim Palace, as well as a visit to London, which included a tour of Buckingham Palace.
