MALVERN Hills and Wychavon District Councils are teaming up with local organisations to offer the public a week of activities to improve health and wellbeing.

Wellbeing Week 2019 will take place from October 7 until October 13 and will offer residents of the chance to take part in various activities and events.

Activities range from yoga, circuit training, walking hockey and an arts group to tap dancing, Dementia Friends sessions, a community dog walk and more. The theme for the week will be Five Ways to Wellbeing- connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give.

The aim is to promote positive and practical ways to improve overall wellbeing, including mental and physical health, raise awareness of mental health issues and the support available, as well as promote local wellbeing events and activities.

The organisations and individuals involved include Fortis Living, Malvern Cube, Freedom Leisure, Droitwich Spa Rugby Club, Dance in Motion, The Fold, Droitwich Spa Meeting Centre and others.

Cllr Natalie McVey, portfolio holder for housing and health at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Wellbeing Week 2019 is a chance for us to promote lots of positive and practical ways to improve health and wellbeing. The week will coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10 October which will follow the theme of suicide prevention and we hope to raise awareness of the help and support that is available.”

Cllr Christopher Day, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing at Wychavon, said: “One of our priorities as a council is to help people to be healthy, active and supported. This week is a great opportunity do this and we hope residents will take advantage of the many activities and events on offer.”
