A MAN has been jailed for 12 months and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman following a night out.
Gabriel Partene was sentenced on Thursday after attacking the victim, in her 30s, after both left Monroe's Cellar Bar in Foregate Street on January 26.
The 24-year-old offender, who has lived in the UK since 2016, was subject to a night curfew and could not contact the victim as of February when the initial trial date was set, as part of his bail conditions.
On the morning of his trial at Worcester Crown Court on September 2, he pleaded guilty to a sexual assault charge.
However, a false imprisonment charge was not proceeded with and will lie on file, a CPS spokesman confirmed.
Partene was arrested following a police CCTV appeal, with the attack understood to have taken place in Taylor's Lane, a narrow street between Sansome Walk and The Tything, and to the side of Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.
Partene was living in Arboretum Road before moving to Long Street, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire.
The victim cannot be named for legal reasons.
