A WOMAN from Wolverley has been jailed for stealing jeans from New Look.

Samantha Crowther, of Hayes Road, pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday (September 26).

The 44-year-old stole three pairs of jeans worth a total of £55 from the Kidderminster store on September 25 this year.

She was sentenced to 21 days in prison and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 plus £135 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Magistrates said the crime was made more serious because of the defendant's repeated offending for similar offences.

The theft was committed while a community order for a previous theft and common assault was in force.

At magistrates' court on September 23, a Kidderminster man admitted stealing chocolate, ready meals and whisky from a supermarket.

Anthony Cooper, aged 35, of Hurcott Road, pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft - all from Tesco in Kidderminster.

The stolen items included ready meals totalling £147.

A community order was made, meaning the defendant must comply with a curfew with electronic monitoring for three months.

He must also pay compensation of £150.
