A REDDITCH charity which offers help to blind and partially sighted people has been given a cash boost, from the police.

PCSO Mike Handford from the Redditch South West and Rural Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team recently presented a cheque for £250 to The Redditch Association for the Blind.

The donation is from the West Mercia Police Community Fund and will go toward helping around 250 registered blind and partially sighted people in the area.

The group's treasurer Joyce Bush said: "We aim to improve the quality of life of those with major sight loss, by providing social opportunities and introducing safe-guarding.

"The funds will be used to take members on a coach trip day out."

Officers from the local SNT attend the association's monthly meetings, held at Webheath Village Hall, to provide crime prevention and personal safety advice to its members and volunteers.
