MALVERN EnviroWeek 2019 will return next week and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Running from Monday, October 14, until the following Sunday, the week is the second of its kind and will offer a number of events and activities to the public.

As part of the week, the first ever Greener Living Fair will be held from 1pm to 3.30pm on Saturday, October 19, in Great Malvern Priory.

There will be free demonstrations, talks and stalls offering advice and information on how to be kinder to the planet.

A free one-hour rag-rug making workshop, led by Philippa Lowe, will teach the techniques of making a rug out of unwanted clothes.

The workshop, by Malvern Country Market, will be at 1.15pm and places can be booked at the Tourist Information Centre on Church Street.

Visitors can find out about some of the oldest trees in town at 1.30pm with a tour entitled Malvern’s Marvellous Trees..

A number of community litter picks will also take place as part of the week, with equipment available for loan from Malvern Hills District Council.

The EnviroWeek Photo Competition has returned with residents being encouraged to share their best photos of the district.

The top ten photographs will be framed and exhibited in Great Malvern Priory for three weeks in November and December.

Cllr John Raine, portfolio holder for environmental services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It is very pleasing to welcome the annual Malvern EnviroWeek. The event will once again offer a wide range of fun and informative activities to suit people of all ages.

"It is so important that we all make the effort to learn more about what we can do to help the planet and to make those much-needed small changes that together will make a significant difference.”
