Herefordshire Council has adopted the Herefordshire Travellers’ Sites Development Plan.
The document, "which will help fulfil the requirements for both residential and transit pitches", was discussed at a meeting of full Council last week (11 October) and confirmed via a majority vote.
A spokesman said: "Extensive work and public consultation has been carried out to prepare this important document which identifies sites for a number of new pitches in order to meet the housing needs of the Gypsy and Traveller community.
"The new pitches identified in the plan are located at existing local authority sites at Grafton, Lower Bullingham, Bromyard and Pembridge. An extension to a private site near Bosbury, which has recently been granted planning permission, is also included. A site for a temporary stopping place on the outskirts of Leominster has also been identified for travellers passing through."
