THE finishing touches are being put to the Sidbury roadworks this week, as the long term project finally comes to its conclusion.
And Mayor Allah Ditta and Worcester County Council’s cabinet member for highways Alan Amos have thanked the workers who had the tough job of completing the scheme.
The work included replacing the traffic light system, extending approach lanes and installing a new signal-controlled pedestrian crossing.

But the £2 million scheme caused heavy tailbacks during peak times and some residents had other criticisms including the amount of workers on site, and when Severn Trent Water carried out unannounced work at the start of September - that led to a fine.
Cllr Ditta said: “They are just finishing off now on the last bits.
“To get something improved in the city, there has to be short term slight pain, for long term gain.
“I want to thank the workers - there are main roads into this junction, so they have worked hard to keep pedestrains and cars going through. They deserve a pat on the back.”
