RACHEL Maclean, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Redditch, has launched her general election campaign outside the Alexandra Hospital.

With voters set to head to the polls on Thursday, December 12, Rachel was joined by the Redditch Conservatives team at the town’s hospital to launch her re-election bid on Sunday (November 3).

Rachel said: “The Alex has been and always will be my top priority, which is why I launched my re-election campaign outside our town’s hospital.

Following her election as Redditch’s MP in 2017, Rachel has worked to support the Alex.

“I’ve fought hard for the Alex since the very first day I was elected," Rachel said.

“I’ve delivered the promised investment at the hospital, with work set to start next year to improve the elective care centre, endoscopy, children’s outpatients and an upgrade in theatres."

If re-elected on December 12 Rachel has reaffirmed her commitment to campaigning to get maternity and children’s services back at the Alex.

She said: “I know from my hundreds of conversations on the doorstep just how deeply unpopular the decision by local health bosses was to centralise services at Worcester, and I know that the majority of residents will never accept the fact their services have been taken away.

“I have been campaigning to get these services back, and it won’t happen overnight, but I am confident and determined in the belief that, together, we can achieve this and see maternity and children’s services returned to the Alex."

Away form the hospital, Rachel has reaffirmed her commitment to voting for Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.

Rachel said: “62 per cent of voters in Redditch voted to leave the EU in 2016. At every opportunity I’ve had I’ve voted to deliver Brexit and honour the result of the referendum.

“However, every time the Conservatives and I have tried to get Brexit done we’ve been blocked by Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party. I promised the people of Redditch in 2017 I’d get Brexit done, and Labour have tried to stop me from doing so, but, if re-elected, I will vote for Boris’ deal so we can leave the EU by January 31st.

“I’m the only candidate in this election who can actually deliver Brexit."

She added: “It has been the honour of my life to have served the people of Redditch these past two years.

“If I’m given the great honour of being re-elected the Member of Parliament for Redditch on December 12, I can promise you that we will get Brexit done and continue to invest in our schools, NHS and police.”
