A PRISONER jailed for stabbing a bodybuilder from Alvechurch 12 times is on the run after running away from an open prison.

Aiden Morrissey, 21, left HMP Sudbury on Sunday, November 17.

He was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court in February 2017 and sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison for wounding with intent and possessing a blade in public.

Fitness competitor Will Flint was repeatedly knifed near a Birmingham cashpoint in the early hours of New Years Day 2017, following a night out in the city centre with friends.

He was stabbed in the back, leg, side and stomach, leaving him in hospital for two weeks with 60 staples, a collapsed lung and severed spleen.

He was trying to save a woman from being attacked.

Recounting the horrific attack, Will told the Advertiser at the time: "I had been out with some friends in Birmingham watching the fireworks and stopped to take some money out to pay the taxi driver.

"I heard someone having a row and saw a woman shouting 'get away from me' to a man. I asked what was going on and next thing I know he started stabbing me."

Having previously taken Krav Maga classes at Bromsgrove's former Dolphin Centre, Will was able to block some of the blows, climb back into his taxi and walk into Queen Elizabeth Hospital's A&E department before he collapsed.

Morrissey is white, 5ft 10ins tall and has grey eyes and brown hair. He has the word ‘mom’ tattooed on his right arm.

His home address is in Birmingham.

A police spokesman said: "If you have seen Morrissey or know of his whereabouts, please do not approach him, instead contact us immediately quoting reference number 19*561817.

"You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please note in the event of an emergency you should always call 999."
