AS your votes continue to come in for your choice of Pub of the Year this week the Cropthorne Bell is in the spotlight.

Voted for by Evesham Journal readers the aim is to find the most popular watering hole, while also celebrating the many fantastic pubs in our area. Last year hundreds of pub-goers supported their favourite establishments and we were inundated with votes.

Jane Burney has run the Cropthorne in Main Road, Pershore since September 2016.

Mrs Burney said they prided themselves as being a pub run for the community, including holding regular fundraisers.

"Not being in the centre of Evesham, we do our best for the local community," the landlady said.

"We support local businesses for our meals and drinks, and getting involved with community events."

Asked what the reaction would be, if the pub was to win the competition, Mrs Burney said: "We would be over the moon.

"It would be recognition of the work we have done for the local community."

The winning landlord of the competition receives a Pub of the Year 2019 trophy and will be invited to the Houses of Parliament by the town’s MP. To vote simply cut out the slips from the newspaper and send them to us. We’re also now allowing our readers to vote for their favourite pub by email too.

All readers need to do is email deb.walton@localiq.co.uk with the subject ‘EVESHAM JOURNAL PUB OF THE YEAR: NAME OF THE PUB’ and then, in the body of the email, explain why they’ve chosen this pub. The deadline for email votes is the same as for the voting slips in the paper: Friday, December 20.

The winner will be announced in the Journal and on our website on Christmas Eve.
